Boost audience engagement. Encourage thoughtful interaction.

We hear these online buzz phrases all too often. But, how can you connect with your audience beyond social media?

When I started this website, I decided I wanted to go beyond automatic notifications each time a new blog post was published. I wanted to personalize each message and open the door to starting conversations with the people who have taken the time to subscribe to my website. I researched what other writers and publishers are using and decided to invest in web based email marketing software.

When I started this website, I decided I wanted to go beyond automatic notifications each time a new blog post was published. I wanted to personalize each message and open the door to starting conversations with the people who have taken the time to subscribe to my website.

I researched what other writers and publishers are using and decided to invest in web-based email marketing software.

After looking into several options, I decided to go with AWeber. I’m on a basic plan that costs $19 a month, and it’s totally worth it.

So, what’s the benefit of using email marketing software instead of the automatic notifications sent out by your website host? A lot!

When you use email marketing software you…

  • can send professional emails to your audience any time you want. For example, you can let your readers know you’ll be offline while you’re on vacation, give them exclusive insider content or promote your products and services that aren’t featured in blog posts.
  • own your list of subscribers. This also means you can see detailed metrics behind the scenes including email open rates, specifically who opened individual messages and send follow-up emails to a segment of readers. This is fabulous when you want to connect to a specific audience as part of your marketing strategy.
  • schedule your emails to go out when you want them to publish. If you know the location of your primary readership, send your messages when they have time to read them, like on a Thursday afternoon when everyone’s watching the clock and playing on the computer before getting ready to leave work!
  • have pages of analytics to study. You can see which approaches are turning visitors into subscribers and customers. This ultimately lets you spend your time doing more of what works, rather than guessing which tactics are most effective for reaching your goals.
